For Stewart Construction Green building is a conscious choice to use resources efficiently while creating a higher performing home that is better for the homeowner and the natural environment. This practice provides cost savings through improved productivity, lower cost building operations, and resource efficiency – while moving us closer to a sustainable future. Stewart Construction is meeting the needs of the present without compromising the needs of the future – right here in the Sandhills. Read more about the Green Practices we put into our buildings:Insulation:The quality installation practices used to insulate our homes provides a thermal blanket that will keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
We air seal our homes to reduce holes between your home and the outdoors. The energy savings achieved from air sealing a home is equivalent to closing a hole the size of an open window in your wall. Sealing a home controls the indoor environment, lowers energy bills, provides proper ventilation and improves air quality.
Think of heating and cooling system as the lungs of your home. We will permanently seal your duct systems so dust, bugs, and pollen don’t compromise the air you breathe inside your home.
New homes have new carpeting, window treatments, and often new furniture. We use advanced windows that block 70 percent of unwanted summer heat gain, which protects your furnishings so that fabrics do not fade.
Just as you expect the newest technology with the purchase of a new computer; we provide high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment that lasts longer and operates quietly.
Bigger is not better. We make fewer mistakes so our homes need less energy for better comfort. We have experts help choose the equipment to be installed into your home rather than guess in the field.
Energy Star Certification:
Stewart Construction’s energy-efficient homes minimize environmental impact while maximizing health and home comfort. Each home prevents greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the US Environmental Protection Agency and must go through multiple third party inspections to ensure it meets the highest government standards. The Energy Star Certification is the government-backed certification for energy efficiency.
Standard Conditioned Crawl Space:
Both scientific research projects and real world installations demonstrate that properly closed crawl spaces can provide much better moisture control than conventional wall-vented crawl spaces in temperate – humid climates. Homes with conditioned crawl spaces save significantly on energy when compared to homes with traditional crawl spaces. More than 80 percent of the air in the crawl space will end up in your home, and heat leakage occurs around the house’s foundation slab. Conditioned crawl spaces are a standard feature of a Stewart Construction home.
